Despite rising to prominence thanks to her music career, Queen Latifah has not been active in releasing new material; instead she is focusing more on acting.
However, although she has established herself as one of the most influential and revered stars, the rapper-slash-actress is not above being underpaid in Hollywood.
"It's no secret we are facing some seriously pivotal issues," Queen Latifah said, echoing actress Taraji P. Henson's sentiments about Black actresses' unequal pay. "Everyone is talking about inflation. You know what's not feeling inflation?"
In her monologue, Deadline reports the rapper gave The Color Purple actress a shoutout and thanked her for "standing up for all of us."
"Everybody else in this hall room stand up for all of us Black actresses who have been representing for us. Support us. Join us. Because it's you who stand next to us every day. We know this and we want to say thank you."
Queen Latifah's Net Worth
Queen Latifah began her career early; she was 19 when she released her debut album, All Hail the Queen, in 1989, which spawned her hit single "Ladies First."
