Kelly Clarkson may not be touring as much as any other pop star or releasing new music every now and then, but she surely knows how to make sure everybody remembers how powerful a vocalist she is.
Clarkson's smashing cover of Billie Eilish's Oscar- and Grammy-winning hit "What Was I Made For?" had fans gobsmacked after her unbelievable display of talent.
Kelly Clarkson's 'What Was I Made For?' Cover
As part of Clarkson's show-stopping Kellyoke segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the American Idol alum unleashed a powerful cover of Eilish's contemplative ballad from the Barbie soundtrack.
While performing on her talk show set, Clarkson looked stunning in a red velvet dress.
This wasn't the first time that Clarkson masterfully covered one of Billie Eilish's songs. She famously covered "Happier Than Ever" in 2021, earning rave reviews then as well. On Rolling Stone's ranking of the best Kellyoke covers ever, that performance was ranked No. 2, just behind Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees."
Kelly Clarkson Fans Showered Her with Praise
Fans couldn't believe Clarkson's unbelievable performances, so much so that they even described her as the "Thanos" of music covers, likening her to the Marvel Cinematic Universe villain whose quest was to collect Infinity Stones. For Clarkson, she's collecting an arsenal of songs.
"Kelly Clarkson was made to be the thanos of music covers," one user wrote.
"No wayyyyyy. This song choice almost isn't fair, it's already so beautiful and Kelly's voice on top of that is just too much perfection. Bravo!!!" another commented.
"Genuinely the most beautiful I've heard in a while. Kelly is otherworldly. This needs to be on Kellyoke volume 2 STAT!!" a third person said.
"If a bright star in the sky was a person, it would be Kelly. This was simply extraordinary and otherworldly. I've seen Kelly in concert several times, and she is one of the best," a fan praised.
Some fans clamored for Clarkson to include this latest cover if she decides to release another Kellyoke album. She released an extended play by that name in 2022, which contained her covers of songs by The Weeknd, Whitney Houston, Radiohead, Shaed, and Roy Orbison.
