Beyonce has been bidding her time with her newly released masterpiece, Cowboy Carter. It was a project five years in the making, but the hitmaker had to wait for the perfect moment to release it.
The "Texas Hold 'Em" singer surprised fans when she revealed that Cowboy Carter was created and slated for release before the ground-breaking "Renaissance."
"I was initially going to put COWBOY CARTER out first, but with the pandemic, there was too much heaviness in the world. We wanted to dance. We deserved to dance. But I had to trust God's timing," she explained.
According to Billboard, Beyonce released the country album-the Beyonce album, rather-on Mar. 29.
The singer emphasized, "This ain't a country album. This is a 'Beyoncé' album."
Beyonce Tries Out Something New With 'Cowboy Carter'
In the Parkwood Entertainment press release, Beyonce revealed that she wanted to try something new and return to her musical roots with her new project.
"The joy of creating music is that there are no rules," she explained, noting that she wanted to do away with the artificial programs and digital filters.
"I kept some songs raw and leaned into folk. All the sounds were so organic and human, everyday things like the wind, snaps and even the sound of birds and chickens, the sounds of nature."
Cowboy Carter boasts 27 tracks, but the "Alien Superstar" hitmaker recorded over a hundred songs, which was crucial to her piecing together the album.

Beyonce Releases 'The Best Music She's Ever Made'
Since she needed more time with Cowboy Carter, Beyonce released the first installment of her album trilogy, Renaissance.
"So a lot of people don't know, we actually had this first," said Atia "Ink" Boggs, the singer's collaborator. "So imagine having this timeless, classic music first and having to wait, and then she came up with 'Act I'.
"[...] And it's like, baby, we don't do just one thing we do everything and we do it well. That's what she's letting you know. This is her southern roots, this is her Texas roots," she added.
Beyonce says Cowboy Carter is her greatest work: "I think people are going to be surprised because I don't think this music is what everyone expects, but it's the best music I've ever made."
The "Single Ladies" hitmaker enlisted some of the music industry's most iconic stars as collaborators, including Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Willie Nelson, and others.
