Toby Keith played some of his greatest hits at his final concert before his tragic death.
The "Red Solo Cup" hitmaker played three sold-out shows at Las Vegas' Dolby Live Theatre at Park MGM, with the final concert of his life taking place on Dec. 14. After the final performance, Keith died of stomach cancer on Feb. 6 at age 62.
The setlist performance featured hits like "Big Dog Daddy," "Made In America," "God Love Her," and "American Soldier," celebrating some of his great hits, Taste of Country reports. The 23-song concert marked a rare return to the stage after Keith spent 18 months battling cancer since June of 2022.
Also included during the performance was a cover of Jimmy Buffett's "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes." The concert took place just months after the "Margaritaville" icon had passed away, also to cancer. Buffett had Merkel-cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that he privately battled over the course of four years.
The final song of the concert was "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)," which featured a cameo from Las Vegas comedian Carrot Top. A staple in the Vegas entertainment scene, Carrot Top is a longtime friend of Keith's, appearing in several of his music videos.
"Lost a dear friend today. My good pal [Toby Keith]," he posted on X the day of his death. "I'm without words right now. He was a sweet dear man and an unbelievable patriot.! God bless."
Before the triumphant performances, Keith returned to the spotlight in Sept. 2023 for a performance at the People's Choice Country Awards. After the acclaimed television return and sold-out Las Vegas engagement, he had planned a 2024 tour due to his seemingly good health.
Although it seemed like he was on the mend from the illness, his untimely death led to the tour never going through. Following his passing, Keith was also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame as part of their 2024 class on Mar. 18.
