The late country music icon Toby Keith will be honored at the 2024 Association of Country Music (ACM) Awards by a performance from Jason Aldean.
Performing Keith's 1993 debut hit "Should've Been a Cowboy," Aldean will be one of the many country singers who have already paid tribute to his passing in February 2024.
Aldean, who was "honored" to pay tribute to Keith, announced the performance through his X, formerly Twitter, account.

Taste of Country reported that the nature of Aldean's performance will not be revealed until the day of the 2024 ACM Awards, which will take place on May 16, 2024, at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
At 62, Keith died from a longstanding battle with stomach cancer. One of his close pals, NFL star Brett Favre, revealed in a TMZ interview that in the last days of the "Red Solo Cup" singer, he seemed "fatigued" and "tired."
When Keith passed away on Feb. 5, 2024, Aldean mourned his loss like many other country singers, musicians, and fans.
"Just waking up to the news of Toby Keith's passing. Today is a sad day for Country music and its fans. Toby was a huge presence in our business and someone we all looked up to and respected. You and your music will be forever remembered big man," he tweeted at the time.

Since his passing, Keith has been given various performance tributes. At the 2024 CMT Music Awards, Brooks & Dunn, Lainey Wilson, and Sammy Hagar performed a celebratory tribute honoring his impact and legacy in the country music scene.
In addition to Aldean, the Association of Country Music Awards has revealed its stacked list of performers for the upcoming ceremony.
Among the reported were Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll, Kane Brown, Kelsea Ballerini, Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Nate Smith, Avril Lavigne, Noah Kahan, Thomas Rhett, Parker McCollum, and Post Malone.
Queen of Country, Reba McEntire, who will host the ceremony, will also perform on the show to release her new music. The 2024 ACM Awards will be streamed on Prime Video at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT on May 16, 2024.
