Billie Eilish Clarifies She 'Wasn't Singling Out' Artists on Vinyl Sustainability Rant: Read Statement

Billie Eilish is breaking her silence after she recently gave a scathing rant about artists in the music industry releasing different variants of Vinyl records, which exacerbates the sustainability problem.

Since then, Swifties and other fanbases have reacted to Eilish's comment, dragging her and criticizing her somewhat divisive comment.

Billie Eilish Clarifies Vinyl Sustainability Rant

In a statement posted on Instagram Stories, Billie Eilish responds to the criticisms hurled her way after her recent statement.

"okay so it would be so awesome if people would stop putting words into my mouth and actually read what i said in that billboard article," the two-time Oscar-winning songwriter said. "i wasn't singling anyone out, these are industry-wide systemic issues. & when it comes to variants, so many artists release them - including ME! which i clearly state in the article."

True enough, Eilish did release eight differently colored vinyl albums, each packed with a different exclusive depending on which store you buy it from. She also released 10 CD variants, one with an autographed version, an independent version, and alternate packaging hand-painted by herself.

"the climate crisis is now and its about all of us being part of the problem and trying to do better sheesh," she ended her statement.

Fans have since rallied behind her after other fanbases continued to slam her for her comments.

"People online (especially on here) were trying to make it seem like she was calling out Taylor and dislikes her when so many artists, including Billie herself as she says, release multiple versions and some do it more than Taylor does. Not only that, she has openly expressed love for Taylor and vice-versa but people just run with their narratives because they are haters," one pointed out on Reddit.

"Too bad. i wanted her to say "yes, I meant what I said and fuck her!" Say whatever you want about that sixteen years old from the Bronx but popstars used to give us drama! anyway, blink twice if the swifties got you, Billie," another echoed.

Billie Eilish Slams Artists Who Release To Many Vinyl Variants

In a Billboard interview, Billie Eilish called out artists like her who release different vinyl and packaging for their albums, further highlighting how "wasteful" the practice is.

"It's so wasteful, and it's irritating to me that we're still at a point where you care that much about your numbers and you care that much about making money - and it's all your favorite artists doing that sh**," she added.
