Lizzo has confirmed that she is not quitting music despite her confusing "I Quit" social media post last week.
On Friday, the "About Damn Time" songstress took to Instagram to share a lengthy statement to say that she "quits" after continuous public ridicule.
"I'm getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the Internet," the post read. "All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I'm starting to feel like the world doesn't want me in it."
Now, Lizzo posted a video on her Instagram clearing up the comments and clarifying that she will not quit music. Instead, she is no longer giving attention to "negative energy" that comes her way, seemingly about her weight and potentially toxic behavior.
"I want to make this video because I just need to clarify because when I say I quit, I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention," she begins. "What I'm not gonna quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting to people because I know I'm not alone."
In the video, Lizzo is wearing a bathing suit from her new swimwear line that was released yesterday by her Yitty clothing brand. The line of body-inclusive shapewear also offers athletic clothing, undergarments, and more.
"In no way, shape, or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive. If I can just give one person the inspiration or motivation to stand up for themselves and say they quit letting negative people win, negative comments win then I've done even more than I could have hoped for."
The negative attention comes to Lizzo after she recently landed in hot water when two of her former dancers accused her of sexual harassment. Following the release of the lawsuit, several of the "Juice" singer's former colleagues and acquaintances also attested to allegedly toxic behavior. Lizzo denies the allegations.
Her original statement also claimed that she is "constantly up against lies being told" and is frequently "the butt of the joke every single time" due to her weight. The new social media video concludes with Lizzo stating that she is going to move forward as authentically as possible, thanking her supporters for their love.
"With that being said, I'm going to keep moving forward, I'm going to keep being me. Once again, I just want to say thank you for the love that I have received. It means more than you know."
Following her first statement, the GRAMMY-winner received an outpour of love and support from fellow musicians and celebrities, including Paris Hilton and Queen Latifah.
