Bonnie Tyler’s ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ Receives Streaming Bump Ahead of Solar Eclipse

The public has been anticipating the total solar eclipse that will happen on Monday, April 8, and ahead of the astronomical phenomenon, singer Bonnie Tyler amassed a massive spike in her streaming numbers thanks to her song "Total Eclipse of the Heart," which was initially released in 1983.

According to USA Today, some parts of the world will see the moon covering the sun, which will make a part of the earth completely dark for a few minutes.

The official music video for the song, uploaded to YouTube in 2009, has received several recent comments from people anticipating the total eclipse.

One wrote, "Who's here for the 2024 total eclipse?" Another added, "Who's watching for the total eclipse on Monday!?!?"

As of this writing, the music video has been viewed more than a billion times, and it's expected to rise in the next few days.

Bonnie Tyler Succeeds in Streaming Platforms

According to the New York Post, Tyler's song has been added to several eclipse-related playlists on Spotify in the United States. Thanks to her old and new fans, the song amassed a massive bump in its numbers as people anticipated the celestial event.

The outlet noted that searches for the hit 1983 song skyrocketed by almost 50% in the United States. In addition, it placed number 62 in the most downloaded songs on iTunes over the weekend.

In an interview last week, Tyler shared her reaction to the support she gets whenever an eclipse occurs, saying, "Every time the eclipse comes around, it's a bit crazy."

"They send me all these stats all the time, and it's always amazing," she added.

Since the song has been released for over four decades, the singer told the outlet that she forgot how many times she sang the song live.

"Every time it comes along, I'm just happy to sing it because everybody waits for this song and they just love it," she added.

Bonnie Tyler Sings 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' During an Actual Eclipse

The last total eclipse happened in 2017, and to celebrate the rare phenomenon, the musician teamed up with DNCE to perform "Total Eclipse of the Heart" on a cruise sheep.

As shared in a press release, the singer was joined by the Joe Jonas-led group to perform the song, giving Royal Caribbean International's Oasis of the Seas guests a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
