The 2024 Golden Globe Awards might have been a dreadful event for Swifties because of host Jo Koy's infamous flat jokes about Taylor Swift, but the pop star seemed to have enjoyed herself at the event.
Cailee Spaeny, the star of the movie Priscilla, revealed that she had quite the interaction with Swift during the star-studded gathering.
Cailee Spaeny Fangirls Over Taylor Swift
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Spaeny shared how she interacted with Swift when she approached her at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.
"It was like I was looking at a real-life Disney princess," she recalled. "I was so inarticulate. I was like, 'Your hair is so pretty,' and I said to myself, 'Oh my God, really!? Is that the only thing you're going to say?'"
Spaeny, who was born in Springfield, Missouri, confessed that she's also a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. Swift, who was a Philadelphia Eagles fan growing up, is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and cheered him on at many of his games, including at the Super Bowl.
"I also said, 'I'm a [Kansas City] Chiefs fan and I love you,' but I didn't know what to say," she shared. "And she was like, 'Yeah, it's all in one place now.' And I was like, 'Exactly!' So I don't have many fangirl moments, but that one was a big deal. Anyone my age would agree that you can't keep your chill in that moment."
Taylor Swift Also A Fan of Cailee Spaeny's Work
According to Billboard, Spaeny brought her close friend and Mare of Easttown co-star Ruby Cruz as her plus-one to the Golden Globes.
During her interaction with Swift, the "Snow On The Beach" singer also revealed that she loved Mare of Easttown, Cruz ensured Swift knew that she in the miniseries as well.
"Taylor Swift brought up that she loved Mare of Easttown, which is so crazy, and Ruby went, 'I'm in Mare of Easttown, too!'" Spaeny remembered. "And then Taylor said, 'But you were blonde in Mare of Easttown, weren't you?' So I don't know what that says about Taylor. Maybe it's just that she's a massive Mare of Easttown fan, which is very cool."
Swift attended the 2024 Golden Globe Awards because she was nominated for the inaugural Golden Globe Award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement for her blockbuster Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, while Spaeny was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture-Drama for her outstanding portrayal of Priscilla Presley in Sofia Coppola's Priscilla.
By the end of the evening, Swift and Spaeny had one more thing in common: they both lost in their respective categories. Swift's film lost to Barbie, while Spaeny lost to Lily Gladstone of Killers of the Flower Moon.
