Courtney Love has been in the music industry since the early 1990s. Although she has been relatively on the underground grunge scene, she has seen many come and go in the music industry.
Still, this does not make her want to always please people just so she can stay on the industry. She's unafraid to say things on her mind, even if she can be criticized over it.
Very recently, Love received backlash after criticizing pop stars like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, among many others.
Courtney Love Owns Up Diva Behavior, Difficult Personality
Speaking to The Standard, Love owned up to the notion that she was "difficult."
"They said I was disagreeable. Yes, I am completely disagreeable and I'm never going to apologize for that. I always wanted to be known as a bitch. Being liked was never my thing," she confirmed.
In the same interview, she recalled her relationship with the late Kurt Cobain, remembering how her partner was her stark opposite because he "wanted to be liked."
"He was able to hide behind me, but then I got hated. Then Kurt died, and the hatred towards me reached a completely new level. I did not plan for that," Love added. "I had a bitch capacity and I was cool with not being liked. I saw Bob Dylan in Don't Look Back and he didn't want to be liked and I thought, yeah, I want to be like that."
Elsewhere in the interview, Love bluntly name-dropped female artists in the industry whom she loves - Debbie Harry, Patti Smith, Nina Simone, and PJ Harvey.

Courtney Love Criticizes Taylor Swift, Beyoncé
Love did not only name her favorite artists, but she also revealed the artists whom she didn't like.
"She might be a safe space for girls, and she's probably the Madonna of now, but she's not interesting as an artist," Love said about Taylor Swift.
Swift's close friend, Lana Del Rey, also received some heaping criticism from The Hole vocalist.
"I haven't liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song, and I think she should really take seven years off. Up until 'Take Me Home Country Roads' I thought she was great. When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her as she was influencing me too much," Love added.
Lastly, she ripped off Beyoncé and revealed her unfiltered criticism of the singer's phenomenal Cowboy Carter.
"I mean, I like the idea of doing a country record because it's about Black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed, not that I like it much. As a concept, I love it. I just don't like her music," Love shared.
