Barbra Streisand's hotly anticipated appearance on Monday night's edition of The Tonight Show kept many fans awake later than usual last night. It's quite rare for only one guest to monopolize the entire show but this was a history-making occasion marking the 'Funny Girl's' first return to late-night television in over fifty years. Streisand's diva reputation seems to often proceed her but there was absolutely no hint of it as she did a duet with Jimmy Fallon during a medley of songs off of her new Partners album.
Streisand did a great job of carrying the entire show and while Fallon allowed her to sit behind his desk he didn't sacrifice his typical fun antics. Better yet, Streisand seemed more than happy to play along as he changed costumes to morph into Elvis, Michael Buble and Blake Shelton during their opening medley together.
Streisand's new release is out today and during the chat-fest she discussed how singing some of the Hollywood standards such as "It Had To Be You" with well-known vocalists' meant that the final product would put a unique spin on the classics.
After giving Fallon a great interview, Streisand did what she does best- she closed the show out with a big rendition of "Come Rain or Come Shine" minus her duet partner, John Mayer. Obviously she can hold her own with any song and she reminded the audience of how great she really is during this rendition.
