Travis Scott might be one of the most talented hip-hop artists of today's generation, having over ten nominations at the Grammy Awards since the beginning of his career, but he has yet to win one. More recently, the rapper got candid and expressed his feelings regarding his snubs.
The musician recently appeared on HBO's The Shop, which features star-studded cast members like Ice Spice, Lebron James, Chad Ochocinco, and many more.
In the documentary, the rapper addressed his years-long nominations from the Recording Academy, but he never won any of them.
"A lot of our peers everyone's like, 'F*** that award.' I f*** with it. You play football to win a Super Bowl, you play basketball to win championships. It's what that Grammy used to mean is the idea I hold on to. I love to create music," he said.
Travis Scott Forced to Wait to Perform Despite Losing at the Grammys
He added that a Grammy award was once held up to a higher status, but he still believes it.
Scott further expressed his frustrations about the ceremony. They air the rap award at around 2 or 1:30, but he had no choice but to wait until 8:30 before his performance.
"So imagine losing at 1:30 and having to sit there for seven hours? Like f*** this s***, you be like, 'I wanna just dip. F*** this s***," he added.
Travis Scott Success
Although the musician has yet to receive a Grammy, he has been successful throughout his career. Over the past years, he has lost two rap albums of the year.
Billboard reported that his album Utopia was nominated earlier this year, but Killer Mike's Michael ultimately won the award. On the other hand, his album Astroworld lost to Cardi B's debut album Invasion of Privacy in 2019.
The outlet noted that Travis Scott took the stage in February, where he performed songs like "My Eyes, "I Know," and "Fe!n" despite losing earlier that evening.
The first time the rapper got nominated was in 2014 for his song "New Slaves."
In other updates about the rapper, fans are waiting for his feature on Nicki Minaj's "FTCU (Sleeze Mix)" along with Sexyy Red and Chris Brown, which will be released on Friday, April 19.
