After Beyonce's Cowboy Carter rework, Dolly Parton's "Jolene" just got another major remix.
The song, which has also been sung by Miley Cyrus and Brandi Carlile, has now been turned into a heavy metal banger that actually slaps.
The beloved country track has been redone by Moonic Productions for a new Black Sabbath-style production that even Parton would approve of. The YouTube video, titled "If Black Sabbath Wrote 'Jolene'," is performed completely by one artist, Otu Suurmunne, who recorded new vocals, drums, and guitar riffs for the rockin' update.
The song starts off with Suurmunne singing, holding out a long "Jolene" belt before exclaiming "Come on!," as the song launches into a full-fledged metal bash. The singer, who was born with a rare birth defect that left his left hand deformed, impressively commands his one-man studio as he transforms the country hit.
It's too bad that Parton had not been made aware of the track, which has already garnered over 100k views on the video platform, before releasing her 2023 rock album. Rockstar was released as she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and featured 39 tracks of rock and roll bliss.
"If I'm going to go in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I'm going to have to earn it," Parton said at the induction ceremony before she dropped the album, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Rockstar features hit songs like "Purple Rain," "Heart of Glass," "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me," and more. The extensive mix of collaborators features an impressive lineup of rock, pop, and country icons, including Paul McCartney, Pink, Lizzo, Chris Stapleton, Steve Perry, and more.
The LP does feature a new version of "Jolene," which leans more country. However, rock group Maneskin added vocals to the single, providing another exciting spin on the frequently-remixed single. Cyrus is also included on the album, dueting with Parton on a new version of her seminal "Wrecking Ball" single off the controversial Bangerz record.
Parton has yet to recognize Moonic Productions' new metal take on the single, but she had plenty of praise for Beyonce's re-write, which was released earlier this year. Featuring re-written lyrics, the "Texas Hold 'Em" singer added her own version of country-twang to the song, which features an introduction on the LP by Parton.
"Wow, I just heard 'Jolene,'" Parton wrote on Instagram after Cowboy Carter was released. "Beyoncé is giving that girl some trouble and she deserves it! Love, Dolly P."

The Destiny's Child alum's song is a bit more threatening than Parton's self-written classic. The lauded new hit changes "Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene / I'm begging of you please don't take my man," to "Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene / I'm warnin' you, don't come for my man," creating a much more domineering persona.
Parton dropped the single as the title track for her 1973 album. While it only peaked at No. 60 on the Hot 100 chart, the song went on to go No. 1 on the country songs chart upon release.
