Does Normani run her own fan page?

The "Motivation" singer is opening up about her use of online platforms after some skeptics recently called it into question. While she reveals that she does not use social media, she is still paying attention to what her fans are chattering about.

"I'm not on social media," reveals to The Cut, "but I do see a lot, and I'm very tapped into what y'all are saying."

The speculation started after a largely-followed fan page dedicated to her, @NormaniNation, posted a screenshot of her Instagram that was signed into Normani's own account.

After the former Fifth Harmony singer had deleted all her posts - a frequent promotional tool for artists dropping new music - the account posted the photo of her profile, writing: "WHAT IS HAPPENING?" Fans pointed out that the fan page was signed into Normani's account and many led them to assume that she was running it herself.

As she was asked if she is the one behind the fan account, Normani denies the allegations. She does, however, reveal that she is not totally separated from the page either.

"No, I mean, I'm definitely heavily involved," she calmly said to the interviewer when asked about her relationship with fan accounts.

As the journalist continued to press the singer about her social media usage, her publicist quickly jumped in to say that "we can skip this question."

While several critics poked fun at the performer running her own fan page, Normani fans came to her defense to argue that it could be her team generating hype for the new era.

"She hardly uses her own account let alone run a fan page," one fan pointed out. "It's clearly her team and that's ok."

While artists like Taylor Swift, Adele, and Ariana Grande have fan access pages that are run by official teams, @NormaniNation has never concretely been specified as such.

The "Wild Side" singer does admit to leaving social media to her management and label team at RCA. Following her social media blackout, she currently only has nine posts on her profile. The pictures are all from formal photoshoots or promote her upcoming debut album, Dopamine.

The long-awaited record is set to be released on June 14. Dopamine comes five years after her debut single, "Motivation," which was released in 2019. While many were prepared for a full album drop after the song came out, it took Normani several years to actually formulate the perfect sound for her LP.

Dopamine officially started coming together in 2021, when she dropped the Cardi B duet "Wild Side." In the years that have passed, Normani has been responsible for taking care of her parents as they both battled cancer, along with processing a lot of her own emotions over maturing in the spotlight. She says that the lessons she learned in recent years are shining through in the upcoming LP.

"I felt like I needed to experience things to actually be able to talk about them on a record, whether it's my parents, or heartbreak, or even just being in tune with myself as a 27-year-old woman. There's so much life I've lived in the span of creating this body of work."
