Taylor Swift's latest album, 'The Tortured Poets Department,' isn't just a collection of songs; it's a labyrinth of interconnected narratives and hidden messages, leaving her devoted fanbase in a frenzy of speculation.

As Swifties dissect every lyric and melody, one fan's theory linking 'The Tortured Poets Department' with her previous work, 'Midnights,' gained traction after Swift herself seemed to endorse it.

With cryptic lyrics and subtle callbacks, Swift continues to weave a complex tapestry of storytelling, captivating her audience with each new revelation

How Is 'Midnights' Connected to 'The Tortured Poets Department'?

Swiftie Patty Eminger alleged that the first song on The Tortured Poets Department, "Fortnight," was connected to Midnights' last song, "Hits Different."

"The first lyric from the first song on the album 'Fortnight' reflects the last song on Midnights," he explained on an Instagram video.

According to Eminger, "Hits Different's" last line, "Is that your key in the door / Is it OK? / Is it you? / Or have they come to take me away?" was talked about on the first lyric of "Fortnight."

"I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me," Swift sang on the Post Malone-assisted track.

While most of these fan theories were unfounded, Swift liked the post, which fans perceive to be a confirmation of the theory.

"The album is just pure mania and I heard someone describe it as 'Tolerate It' on meth and I was like, 'Perfect, just what I wanted,'" the Swiftie shared. Fellow Swifties have celebrated with Eminger on the Swift interaction in the comments.

Taylor Swift Songs Connected With Each Other

However, "Hits Different" and "Fortnight" aren't the only songs that fans believe to be connected with each other from the Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department.

Swifties, as reported by Buzzfeed, also theorized that "So Long, London," from The Tortured Poets Department, which was highly-speculated to be about her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, talked about stopping CPR on her love.

The same verbiage and lyrical similarity mirrors Midnights' "You're Losing Me," where Swift sang, "I can't find a pulse, my heart won't start anymore / For you 'cause you're losing me."

The Tortured Poets Department debuted atop the Billboard 200 albums chart with 2.61 million album units, making it the second-biggest album debut in music history since Billboard started tracking sales in 1991.
