An expert is claiming that Taylor Swift's motive behind singing about the men she dated in the past, or even the man she's dating at present, is more than just sharing her love life to her fans. Instead, it is her way to control the narrative.
The Tortured Poets Department solidified her narrative prowess.
The esteemed singer-songwriter unveiled her 11th studio album to the world on April 19, 2024. Comprising 31 tracks, the collection is accompanied by an anthology that delves deeper into the themes explored in this double album.
Initially presumed to solely delve into Swift's split from Joe Alwyn, fans soon discovered that the album also delves into her relationship with The 1975's Matty Healy.

Speaking to The Mirror, senior therapist Sally Baker explained, "A pivotal advantage for Taylor Swift in divulging details of her love life is that she retains control over the narrative. Akin to her music, she is the source, creator and performer. She has defied the conventional mold, where female pop artists were once the manufactured products of male producers who owned and exploited the talent they controlled."
A Swift-Obsessed World
The relationship expert also explained that the singer is "adeptly navigated the near-impossible scrutiny of a world obsessed with her every word and action, including her romantic entanglements."
She noted, "[Swift] has avoided the pitfalls of dating men involved with other women, proving herself a 'girls' girl' by siding with the wronged wife when confronted with her exes' dubious behavior. She remains the all-American girl, even if her 'picker is broken,' and her chosen partners have not deserved her."
Baker also shared how millennials and Gen-Z young women look up to Swift as a perfect role model. She explained that the singer's life, though filled with glamour and vibrant colors, reflects their romantic idea of true love.
This is especially clear when they encounter partners who struggle with commitment, digging into unhealthy habits like porn, and exhibit poor behavior instead.
In wrapping up her insightful analysis of Swift's latest album, Baker pointed out, "Unlike Madonna, who has constantly led with groin-bumping and grinding, Taylor Swift has been the flag-bearer for wholesome young women. Little to no dark side has come to public attention."
"She is truly lovely, and the tracks on her latest album do what she has always done: use her romantic life as a rich source of inspiration for her work. Yet, it could be time to move on to the next stage of her life. No more pretty but vacuous men - it might be time to get real."
