Olly Murs was slated to perform at Take That's concert in Glasgow as a supporting act for their series of shows, but he had to cancel his appearance at the last minute due to delayed flights. Fortunately, an unknown musician who had been singing in bars took over his place to entertain waiting fans.

According to BBC News, a singer named Daniel Rooney was performing at a hotel bar in the city when he was suddenly approached to replace Murs for the concert.

Frontman Gary Barlow took to his official Instagram account to share a photo of Rooney and thanked him for performing in front of their thousands of fans.

"This young man saved the day, thank you," he wrote.

Daniel Rooney, Thanks Take That for the Opportunity

Rooney shared more of his last-minute experience on social media, saying presenter Ros King saw him performing at the Radisson hotel and brought him to the massive OVO Hydro venue.

"Also a big thanks to the Take That lads for calming me down before the show and talking setlist tunes. Absolute legends!" he added.

After performing at a hotel bar earlier that evening, Rooney didn't expect to travel to the concert venue and entertain 14,000 fans, most of whom praised him in his comment section.

"You were fantastic thank you for keeping us entertained while waiting on Take That, we sang and danced along to all your songs," one commented.

What Happened to Olly Murs?

Murs has been slated to perform with Take That for their ongoing This Life tour, but he had no choice but to cancel his appearance for their Glasgow show.

The outlet noted that the musician continued sharing updates on social media before the show, hoping to arrive on time.

Unfortunately, due to delayed flights and transport problems, he later confirmed that he would not be able to perform for them.

"So sorry to everyone at the Take That show tonight in Glasgow, unfortunately I won't be there," adding that he had never missed a gig before and felt "so annoyed."

In other updates about Take That, the band's next show will be at the AO Arena in Manchester, UK, on May 7, 2024. More details about the complete tour dates and tickets are available on their official website.
