After Travis Scott's Astroworld festival tragedy in 2021, numerous legal actions ensued, with ten wrongful death lawsuits filed against the artist and various associated entities.

However, most of these cases are now resolved.

A recent report from ABC News disclosed that only one lawsuit remains open, with the rest settled through confidential agreements.

After the tragic incident at the concert, legal proceedings were initiated by the family of Ezra Blount, who sadly lost his life at the age of nine. He is said to be the youngest person who died in the concert.

District Judge Kristen Hawkins recently rejected the Houston rapper's request to be removed from the Astroworld lawsuits. Without explanation, the judge's ruling paves the way for the civil suits to progress further.

Should Scott and Live Nation be held accountable, they could potentially be required by the court to pay billions of dollars in compensation to the victims. During proceedings in March, lawyers representing "SICKO MODE" rapper asserted that the safety of the fans is chiefly the responsibility of the event planners and the staff at the venue.

According to lawyer Daniel Petrocelli in a statement, "Like any other adrenaline-inducing diversion, music festivals must balance exhilaration with safety and security-but that balance is not the job of performing artists, even those involved in promoting and marketing performances."

"Which only makes sense: Performing artists, even those who engage in certain promotional activities, have no inherent expertise or specialized knowledge in concert safety measures, venue security protocols, or site-design."

The legal expert added, "When, during festival planning, concerns arose about the risk of a stampede occurring in the festival site, the Scott defendants supported festival organizers' efforts to eliminate that risk by agreeing to remove certain rides and other attractions at the site. Then, when the Scott defendants were told to end the show after Mr. Scott's guest performer finished performing, they did just that-ending the show as directed."

Canadian rapper Drake has reportedly been relieved of involvement in the plaintiff's claims, while Scott is to participate in the case.

At the start of 2024, at the initiation of the rapper's legal team, a formal request was made to disassociate him from the lawsuits, asserting his non-involvement in the event's organization.

In April, news from NBC revealed that Judge Hawkins had given the request a green light.

Despite the efforts of various companies, such as Apple Inc., Scott's Cactus Jack Enterprises, and LaFlame Enterprises, their requests were not approved.

A grand jury decided last year not to press criminal charges against the "goosebumps" rapper. This ruling came shortly after the Houston Police Department released a comprehensive report spanning nearly 1,300 pages.
