Shania Twain is feeling the love upon learning that Jon Bon Jovi has called her his "spirit sister."
Speaking to People magazine, the Canadian superstar said that hearing Bon Jovi's proclamations "warms" her heart.
"It is a very special bond because there are very few singers that have ever had this nerve damage," she added. "It's not a typical singer's issue."
Recalling the encounter, Twain didn't ask Bon Jovi about his condition at the time; she only discussed her process.
"I shared my experience with him, and before he took the plunge, I just shared the best I could without influencing him in any way," she remembered. "I didn't get deep like that. We got personal about it, but I didn't ask for the real details," Twain continued.
The "You're Still The One" singer told the rocker that she can only share what happened with her experience in getting the surgery.
"There would've been no way for me to ever maintain a single career with that damage, and the nerves don't repair. You can do so much to compensate the physiology, and I did do that for a year," she went on to say.
Unbeknownst to many, Twain and Bon Jovi have undergone a vocal fold medialization procedure. Bon Jovi told People in an interview that his "spirit sister" had helped him get the medical help he very much needed to alleviate his vocal cords.
It turns out that Twain and Bon Jovi had the "same doctor" and the "same surgery."
"She's the only other one I've known that's ever had this surgery, with this doctor, and the only reason I found that out is because she reported it in the press," Bon Jovi told the publication after finding out that he will be treated by Robert Sataloff, Twain's doctor.
Aside from the much-needed push from Twain, Bon Jovi's grim conversation with his wife, Dorothea Hurley, had him consider getting the procedure.
Bon Jovi described the conversation as "beyond heartbreaking" and "devastating" but affirmed that "there's no one better than her to tell me the truth."
"I went to the doctor and said, 'I've done everything I know how to do,'" he told the doctor when he finally decided to have the procedure, as quoted by the magazine.
