Drake and Kendrick Lamar's rap feud that engulfed social media in the past week seemed to have signaled its end.
Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, the Chief Executive Officer of Lamar's former record label, Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), tweeted on X, formerly Twitter, claiming that the "battle is over."
"This battle is over," he proclaimed. "A win for the culture, while keeping it all on wax. Especially when these publications try to make it something else. We proved them wrong. That's a victory within itself. On another note, it's time to wrap up this TDE anniversary compilation."
Although there are no definite rules on who wins a rap feud, public opinion seems to have declared Lamar the winner.
The rap feud, which was even used by the Biden Administration reelection campaign, produced nine tracks.
Lamar released "Like That," "Euphoria," "6:16 in LA," "Meet the Grahams," and "Not Like Us." Meanwhile, Drake hit back with "Push Ups," "Taylor Made Freestyle," "Family Matters," and "The Heart Part 6."
Hip-hop fans claimed that Drake waved the white flag in "The Heart Part 6," when he expressed that he doesn't want to diss Lamar anymore/.
"I don't wanna diss you anymore, this really got me second-guessing," Drake rapped. "You could drop a hundred more records, I'll see you later/Yeah, maybe when you meet your maker/I don't wanna fight with a woman beater, it feeds your nature."
Drake posted another cryptic Instagram story of a drawing of a brave knight facing a huge swarm of other knights on the other side. He captioned the photo, "Good times. Summer vibes up next."
Fans have a conflicting understanding of what Drake's Instagram story meant, but some say he had already acknowledged the feud was over.
"Good times. Summer vibes" is the white flag. Drake will drop a pop smash to drown out the battle and try to win back the public," a user theorized on X.
"Looks like Drake is ready to leave the beef behind and embrace the summer vibes ahead," another posted.
"People called me crazy for saying the beef is not over," one said in contrast.
In the past few days, Drake has had fans thinking after he posted a cryptic post on Instagram Stories sharing a snippet of the Netflix series A Man In Full, in which lead actor Jeff Daniels mulled over the idea of death.
"I don't mean this as a criticism. Maybe I do. But when you die, will people notice?" the actor said in the shared snippet. "When I go, there are gonna be a lot of memories of me by a lot of people, many who hate me. Even so, a person needs to live with vigor. Otherwise, what's the point?"
