Charli XCX got engaged to The 1975 member George Daniel last year, and she recently shared her thoughts on motherhood, explaining that she's conflicted about having children in the future.
The "Club Classics" hitmaker spoke in an interview with Rolling Stone UK, where she recalled witnessing her good friend, Noonie Bao, becoming a parent, saying it was "crazy" to see her good pal wearing the same clothes that she's always worn, but there's an entirely different perspective as she became a mother.
Sharing her thoughts about having children on her own, the English musician said she doesn't want to "conform to centuries of indoctrination," but she noted that there would be repercussions if she chose not to have children.
"Am I less of a woman if I don't have a kid? Will I feel like I've missed out on my purpose in life? I know we're not supposed to say that, but it's this biological and social programming," she questioned.
Charli further explained that there is a lot of pressure on women not to talk about things like that publicly, especially not in the music industry, because people like her are supposed to be portrayed as "sexy and free and fun and wild."
If she ever changes her mind in the future, she's certain that parenthood will require a lot of planning, especially because of her career, and there will be things that she has to let go of.
"I'm gonna come off my birth control. I'm not gonna tour. I'm going to see what George wants to do, and then we're gonna try for a baby,'" the singer said of the possible things that she would do if she decided to have kids, adding that she feels like a kid herself so she feels like it's a decision she can't make yet.
However, because of time, Charli said she will eventually make that decision in the future.
In other updates about the Charli XCX, the musician is set to release a new album called Brat on June 7, 2024. She already released a few singles like "Von Dutch," "B2b," "Club Classics," and "360" to give fans a taste of what the entirety of the record would sound like.
According to Variety, the new album will contain 15 new songs.
The musician will also collaborate with Troye Sivan for their co-headlining Sweat Tour featuring special guest Shygirl.
