Cassie Ventura's lawyer slammed Sean "Diddy" Combs' apology video for the 2016 brutal assault incident.

"Combs' most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt," Ventura's lawyer, Meredith Firetog, said in a statement obtained by AllHipHop. "When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday. That he was only compelled to 'apologize' once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words."

Firetog's statements came mere hours after Diddy's apology video addressing the 2016 assault footage published by CNN.

In Diddy's apology, he claimed that he hit "rock bottom."

"It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f##### up - I hit rock bottom - but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video," he emotionally said in the apology video.

Diddy described being "disgusted" by himself when he did it and still "being disgusted" today after the video spread like wildfire.

More so, Diddy confessed that he sought professional help after the encounter.

"I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry. But I'm committed to be a better man each and every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry," the "Bad Boy for Life" rapper furthered.

Ventura, Diddy's ex-girlfriend, sued the rap mogul in 2023 for rape, sex trafficking, and domestic violence. In the same lawsuit, it was revealed that Diddy allegedly paid $50,000 to the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles to obtain the now-released brutal hotel surveillance footage of their physical altercation.

Diddy settled Ventura's civil lawsuit days after he was sued. However, this was just the beginning: many more victims came forward to sue the rapper for similar behavior and crimes.

"The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light," Ventura's lawyer, Douglas H. Wigdor, said in a statement to Music Times.
