Less than one year ago, Sean "Diddy" Combs received a key to New York City, presented to him by Mayor Eric Adams. Now, the mayor of the Big Apple might be changing his tune.
Mayor Adams clarified that the city has never rescinded a key, but is considering doing so given Combs' highly publicized abusive behavior.
In an interview with PIX11, Mayor Adams shared his thoughts on a disturbing recent video that shows Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Venture. The clip shows Combs violently beating and kicking Venture as he throws her to the ground.
"I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him," said Mayor Adams.

He added that "the committee and team" have "never rescinded a key before, but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be."
Mayor Adams continued, announcing that "we are taking everything under analysis and the team will come back to me with final determination."
Combs recently took to Instagram to apologize for assaulting Ventura, referring to his behavior as "inexcusable." He said that he was "disgusted" when he "did it" and that he "went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab."
"I take full responsibility for my actions in that video," he said, saying that it is "so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life."
He added that he had to "ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry, but I'm committed to be a better man each and every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry."
However, Combs' words were hollow, per Meredith Firetog, an attorney for Ventura.
Firetog told Music Times that "Combs' most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday."
Combs continued to deny the string of allegations against him, from Ventura and other women, until the video of him abusing Ventura emerged.
The statement continues, saying "That he was only compelled to 'apologize' once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words."
