Among the potential replacements for Katy Perry on American Idol, Jon Bon Jovi has reportedly become the "undisputed top contender."

A source told the National Enquirer that the rocker might be the next person to join the judging panel once Perry leaves her spot after Season 22.

"A living legend with undeniable charisma, he possesses all the qualities necessary to command the stage and captivate TV audiences," said the insider.

However, Bon Jovi's reported demand before taking on the role is a whopping $25 million salary, thereby creating a problem.

According to RadarOnline.com, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan currently earn $10 million and $12 million each.

It might be impossible for Bon Jovi to get the amount as Perry reportedly wanted her bosses to raise her salary to $25 million but did not receive their approval.

"Katy enjoyed the best deal for reality in TV," a source told The Mirror. "It made her the highest female star for reality and entertainment. But ABC do not want to up it after five years of increases. There is no wiggle room as the parent company Disney looks to be cost-effective and keep spending down for the next couple of years."

As of press time, American Idol has not chosen a musician to become the next judge. Still, Perry approved Jelly Roll and told E! News she would like him to join the judging panel.

"I gotta say Jelly Roll was crazy when he came on the show. I was convinced at anything he said," she said, adding, "He could run for president, he could be my pastor, I might go back to church for him. He could sell me anything ... To have any of these guys plus Jelly on the show would be amazing. I love you, Jelly!"

Jelly Roll also approved of the idea as he joked about "accepting the job" although he had not received an offer during his interview with Audacy. He previously appeared on the April 8 episode of American Idol as a guest mentor to coach the top 24 contestants.

Other musicians considered for the role include Pink, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift and Meghan Trainor, to name a few.
