As the release date for Deadpool & Wolverine nears, Marvel fans are more and more convinced that Taylor Swift will make a cameo in the film.
Swift's name has long been linked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and theories have emerged that she will play the mutant singer Dazzler in one of the X-Men films.
Since Deadpool & Wolverine has been confirmed to feature many cameos from the previous X-Men movies, the fan-favorite Dazzler has also been highly speculated to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through Swift.
Fans pointed out that Swift's close ties with Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), friendship with Deadpool director Shawn Levy, and hangouts with Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) are among the many glaring clues to her involvement in the upcoming action-packed film.
Swift won't be doing any elaborate death-defying stunts as Dazzler should she be there. Dazzler is a well-known celebrity mutant in the comics who can convert sound vibrations into light and energy beams. Like Swift, Dazzler is also a well-known singer and actress.
The first few theories that fans have pieced together were a photo that emerged in 2015 where Swift was with X-Men: Apocalypse director Simon Kinberg, James McAvoy, and Sophie Turner, who played Professor X and Jean Grey in the said film.
Fans have speculated that Swift might appear in the film as Dazzler because the photo was uploaded while the film was in production. Sadly, Swift was nowhere to be found when the film was released.
However, Turner, who eventually became close with Swift, posted a throwback photo of one of the deleted scenes in the movie where her co-star Tye Sheridan pulls up a Vinyl record of Dazzler.
"#FlashbackFriday to that time Cyclops and I went shopping at the mall and found our favorite singer's album (pre 1989, of course)," Turner wrote in her caption, referring to Swift's 1989 album.
In 2023, Levy was spotted in New Jersey at the Kansas City Chiefs game with Swift, Reynolds, Blake Lively, and Jackman.
When asked by The Wrap if Swift could be seen in the upcoming Deadpool film, he said, "No comment," and "you're going to have to wait and see."
In the Happy Sad Confused podcast in October 2023, Levy talked about the cameo again. While Levy was coy about the "great idea" of having Swift in the film, he refused to comment further. However, he teased everyone about a cameo that "blew his mind" because it was so "easy" to book.
Deadpool & Wolverine will slash their way out in cinemas on July 26, 2024.
