- 4 Years Ago Today - In 2010, Tammy Cochran performed in California at a Kern County Museum fundraiser to replace the money that could have been raised for cystic fibrosis had the items that would have been auctioned off not been stolen.
- 6 Years Ago Today - In 2008, The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution honoring Toby Keith for his support of American armed forces.
- 14 Years Ago Today - In 2000, Willie Nelson presented Farm Aid XV in Bristow, Virginia. The line-up included Alan Jackson, Arlo Guthrie, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Sawyer Brown, the Barenaked Ladies and Travis Tritt. Tipper Gore, the wife of Vice President Al Gore, played drums with Nelson and Family.
- 16 Years Ago Today - In 1998, a 19-year-old man was taken off a plane in Denver after harassing members of Hootie & the Blowfish. 1998 was also the year that The Country Music Hall of Fame unveiled a bronze statue of the late Hank Williams on the 75th anniversary of the his birth. At the ceremony, his children, Hank Williams Jr. and Jett Williams, met for the first time.
- 21 Years Ago Today - In 1993, 18 crew members were injured when a lighting truss fell during preparations for Garth Brooks' three sold-out shows in Dallas' Texas Stadium.
- 32 Years Ago Today - In 1982, Elektra released Hank Williams Jr.'s Greatest Hits.
- 37 Years Ago Today - In 1977, Reba McEntire made her first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. She sang the Patsy Cline classic "Sweet Dreams" and Roger Miller's "Invitation To The Blues."
- 91 Years Ago Today - In 1923, Hank Williams was born in Mount Olive, Alabama. He grew up to become the biggest country star in the US with 36 Top 10 Country hits including, Williams died at the age of 29 in the backseat of a Cadillac on January 1, 1953 on the way to play a show.
