A teen rapper in Virginia died after he accidentally shot himself while recording a video on social media, multiple news outlets disclosed.

The Suffolk Police Department confirmed to Billboard and Newsweek on Tuesday, May 21, that a 17-year-old died on May 15, around 10 p.m., following a "self-inflicted gunshot wound."

The spokesperson added that the victim died of his injuries at a local hospital. Police did not disclose the real name of the teenager, but family and friends later identified him as rapper Rylo Huncho.

A preliminary investigation, which determined that it was a self-inflicted injury, will find out whether it could be considered as a suicide.

Meanwhile, a New York Post report said Rylo Huncho was filming a TikTok music video when he pointed a gun at his head and pulled the trigger, ultimately killing himself. A video online has since gone viral, showing the young rapper dancing with a gun equipped with a green laser. The clip also recorded Rylo Huncho pointing it at his forehead and pulling the trigger before falling on the floor.

His cousin set up a GoFundMe page for Rylo Huncho's mother, which also disclosed that the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

"Suicide/accidental was the cause of his death we are still trying to figure out why," part of the details read. "But anything I mean anything can help her at this time of need . He was her only child she was also an only child it was always her and her son . Anything can help ! Please keep my family in your prayers."

The GoFundMe page has received $6,207 of its $15,000 goal.

Meanwhile, Rylo Huncho's mother, Monica Savage, broke her silence in her interview with 13News Now. She recalled the devastating moment she found her son lying on the floor.

"When I came in the house, and I seen my son in his blood... I ran across the street, and I almost got hit by a car for going across the street trying to save my son's life," Savage said, later adding, "I didn't know he had a gun. I did not know he had that. I just want my baby back. That's all I want."

Before his death, Rylo Huncho launched his Spotify page where he shared his music with his fans. Some of the songs included "DOA," "Helicats SRTs," "La la la," "Money Getta" and "Bag Talk."

According to Newsweek, some of his social media videos featured alcohol and marijuana.
