Hours before Neil Young & Crazy Horse were set to take the stage Thursday (May 23) night for a sold-out show at the Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago, the show was postponed, according to a statement posted on the venue's X account.
"Regretfully, tonight's Neil Young & Crazy Horse show is being postponed due to illness - This show will be rescheduled. Hold on to your tickets and stay tuned for more information," the message read.
It's unclear which member of the band is suffering from an illness and the nature of the sickness.
The postponement caught some fans by surprise, with one fan re-posting the venue's announcement on X along with the message, "Was literally on the way to the venue tonight when I heard this on the radio. On the plus side, I heard it *before* embarking on what would've been a 1 hr 25-minute drive in rush hour traffic."
The band's next scheduled show on their Love Earth Tour is Sunday (May 26) in Austin, Texas, followed by a show Monday (May 27) in Dallas. After the Dallas date, the band is scheduled to take a break until July 8 when it is set to restart the tour in Young's hometown of Toronto. The tour is scheduled to conclude Sept. 29 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
The 78-year-old Young and the current lineup of Crazy Horse - drummer Ralph Molina, bassist Billy Talbot, who are both 80, and new guitarist Micah Nelson - began the tour April 24 in San Diego. Nelson, the 33-year-old son of Willie Nelson, is filling in for Nils Lofgren, who is busy touring with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
Just before the start of the tour, Young and Crazy Horse released the new album FU##IN' UP on April 20 and have a compilation of vintage material, Early Daze, on tap for June 28.
