Taylor Swift has reportedly allocated a whopping $30 million toward security measures to guarantee her safety during the European leg of The Eras Tour.
A music industry insider with experience collaborating with other singers such as Adele, Madonna, and Rihanna shared insights on the substantial expenses of maintaining top-level safety throughout Swift's highly anticipated tour.
The insider, who says they serve as an external advisor for The Eras Tour, detailed the considerable expenses associated with ensuring Swift's security and maintaining her safety.
"She is the biggest superstar on the planet," they told The Sun, "so security has to be perfect for her and the entourage."
It's not just Swift, however, who needs protection. Her NFL-player boyfriend, Travis Kelce, has garnered immense fame since they went public with their relationship in September, and it has made strolling in public areas together quite challenging.
The couple has found ways to enjoy quality time together during her European tour, such as when Kelce joined Swift in Paris earlier this month.
Plans are in place for the tight end to reunite with her in Portugal this week, ahead of their joint attendance at the Monaco Grand Prix over the weekend.
The Sun's insider said Swift assembled a team of more than 20 highly skilled individuals, each considered top-notch in their respective fields, to guarantee the safety of herself and her crew during their journey across Europe for a series of 51 performances.
Per the same source, each security personnel is compensated $1,100 per day. The extensive European tour, which started in early May and lasts roughly 100 days, will amount to a hefty total of $2 million to staff security.
However, these agreements encompass various other expenses. In addition to compensating a bodyguard with a daily wage, they may involve renting security cameras, monitors, walkie-talkies, and even attire to maintain a polished appearance for all parties involved.
Going through various destinations, accommodations, meals, and miscellaneous costs for the entire group responsible for safeguarding the "Fortnight" singer can potentially inflate the total expenses by an additional $2 million.
After tallying up the security arrangements at the event locations, most of which are expected to accommodate more than 65,000 attendees, the total cost is projected to exceed $30 million.
These figures pose no challenge for the 14-time Grammy winner, who is poised to break her own record for the most profitable tour two years in a row.
The industry expert explained, "I worked with other international superstars like Rihanna, Madonna, and Adele, but [Swift's] is the most expensive tour to manage."
"But it's all justified because of the passion and the massive crowds she attracts. No other artist has ever spent that much money for security, her own and the security in venues in European history, that is for sure."
