Jennifer Lopez takes the lead as a tough data analyst thrust into a high-stakes battle against an antagonistic robotic force in the latest Netflix offering Atlas.

It's clear that her role, a brilliant data analyst, has a deep-seated skepticism toward artificial intelligence, as she finds herself at a crossroads when a routine mission to capture a renegade robot veers off course unexpectedly.

And yet as the events unfold, she grapples with the realization that AI, despite her reservations, may hold the key to resolving the escalating crisis.

In real life, Lopez might resonate with her role, although she's not personally as keen to see the value of AI yet.

Discussing the film at its Los Angeles premiere, Lopez reflected on its portrayal of artificial intelligence (AI), emphasizing its potential for both benevolent innovation and catastrophic misapplication.

"I think this movie does a good job of showing how AI could go incredibly wrong, and this is how it could go really right," she remarked to Variety, pointing to her character's reliance on AI to avert planetary peril.

The acclaimed performer shared her personal encounters with the darker facets of AI, recounting instances where manipulated images of her face covered in wrinkles were exploited in skincare advertisements without her consent, which she said circulated online.

"It's really scary," she said, underscoring the profound ethical implications of AI's rapid advancement. "Right away we had them stealing our faces. So, yes, [AI] is really scary."

But she did say people should be educated about AI, and see its pros and cons. To start, they can watch Atlas.

Lopez said, "I think you should be respectful of AI...We have to be open to all possibilities. These movies that are talking about AI - especially this one - do a really good job of showing both sides."

"Atlas" has quickly ascended the ranks as one of Netflix's most-watched movies over the Memorial Day weekend even though critics have lambasted it for "lacking depth," solidifying its status as a captivating addition to the streaming giant's catalog.

It's unclear what skincare ads she has seen, but there had been recent reports of her being spotted with wrinkles. Instead of people bashing her however, many came into her defense and said she's aging quite beautifully.

After gracing the Schiaparelli spring/summer haute couture show in Paris last week, Jennifer Lopez has stirred up a flurry of online discussion with the release of new photos showcasing her natural skin texture.

Fans of "On the Floor" singer, notably on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), have expressed varied reactions to the unretouched images, which notably exhibit natural signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines.
