Snoop Dogg is finally weighing on the Drake and Kendrick Lamar rap feud weeks after it concluded.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Snoop Dogg has nothing but mad respect for the two elite rappers.
"Well, the only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shout-out for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song-making and writing because the writing has been upped since the confrontation or whatever you call it, whatever they went through," the rapper told the outlet.
According to the "California Girls" rapper, Lamar and Drake are his "nephews" and maintain that he's "not in the middle" of it.
"I support both of them and that's personal business, not my business," he revealed.
Snoop Dogg also thanked the rappers for reigniting people's enthusiasm for rap and hip-hop after their continuous back-and-forths and keeping everyone at the edge of their seats with their consecutive releases.
"As far as what they did for the industry and the rap game, they made you rap again," Snoop added. "You can't mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy. So, thank y'all."
Snoop Dogg was unconsciously dragged into the feud when Drake released "Taylor Made Freestyle." In a controversial move, Drake used Artificial Intelligence to generate vocals for Snoop Dogg and the late Tupac Shakur.
Although Snoop only expressed his surprise after being roped in, Tupac's estate aggressively reacted to Drake's move to use the rapper's likeness on the unauthorized track.
"The Estate is deeply dismayed and disappointed by your unauthorized use of Tupac's voice and personality," Litigator Howard King wrote in the letter addressed to Drake. "Not only is the record a flagrant violation of Tupac's publicity and the estate's legal rights, it is also a blatant abuse of the legacy of one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time. The Estate would never have given its approval for this use."
In the song, AI Tupac rapped about needing Lamar as the "West Coast survivor," while AI Snoop blasted Lamar for being quiet after Drake's taunts.
Drake then took down the song shortly after Tupac's estate threatened him with legal action.
Eventually, Lamar and Drake released more diss tracks. Fans proclaimed Lamar the winner because they believed Drake waved the white flag on his last song, "The Heart Part 5."
