Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, are facing a combined 18 charges of theft, fraud and more.
Turner, 61, was arrested last week during a SWAT raid on Kingston's Southwest Ranches home. She was released late on Sunday night after spending four days in Broward County Jail and successfully posting a $160,000 bail. Turner was forced to surrender her passport and is not allowed to possess firearms, weapons or ammunition of any kind.
Other conditions for her release included that her bail fund be "fully collateralized and a judge must approve the source of the funds to ensure they were not obtained illegally."
She is currently facing eight counts of theft and fraud, one of which is an "organized scheme to defraud," per a judge who said that they "found probable cause."
This is not her first time in hot water. She was sentenced to 16 months in federal prison in 2005 after receiving a federal conviction for bank fraud.
Kingston, meanwhile, is facing 10 charges in his own right, his heftiness being "an alleged organized scheme to defraud several companies."
When his property was raided -- and his mother arrested -- the "Beautiful Girls" artist was already in legal trouble with Ver Ver Entertainment. He reportedly purchased a 232-inch television and entertainment system, but only paid for a $30,000 of the $150,000 product after the system was installed.
Dennis Card, an attorney for Ver Ver Entertainment, explained that Kingston has a persistent habit of defrauding and tricking people through boasting, and lying, about his celebrity status.
"He basically has a sales pitch that he goes through to defraud people. He induces them into giving him really expensive things," he said. "He said that he works with Justin Bieber and that he, obviously, puts on a big show here. This is a rental house, he doesn't own it."
During the SWAT raid on Kingston's home, authorities removed a customized bed worth over $86,000 and a $160,000 Cadillac, both of which the rapper had allegedly not paid for. He owes hundreds of thousands of dollars to various jewelers, many of whom have already pursued legal action against him. Kingston allegedly stole $200,000 and $100,000, respectively, from Bank of America and First Republic Bank.
The "Fire Burning" singer left Florida to perform a concert in Fort Irwin, CA on Thursday. He was arrested by a federal agent shortly after exiting the stage, and was placed in San Bernardino County Jail for the holiday weekend. He is being held without bond and has an extradition hearing on Tuesday, after which he will return to Southern Florida and head to Broward County Jail.
