Jelly Roll is giving more insight into his relationship with Bunnie Xo.
The country singer has confirmed that they are in an open relationship that allowed them to live freely without "unnecessary jealousy."
"Yeah, of course she's cool with that. People used to think we were in like a open relationship, which I guess we are. We just don't live in that world of unnecessary jealousy. You know what I mean?" he shared with Taste of Country. "I love her, she loves me. I know that's my person, she knows I'm her person."
However, when it comes to their DMs on social media, the "Son of a Sinner" singer says that they both frequently receive promiscuous photos in their inboxes, which they have varying reactions to.
"Poor Bunnie will get her eyes poked out. That's what she calls it, getting her eye poked out. She'll still open a DM every now and then and just some dude just swinging pecker on there. She's just like, 'What?'"
Jelly Roll confirms that it does not make him feel bad that his wife receives the photos, but he does have sympathy for the onslaught of nudity she is apparently subjected to. He goes on to confirm that he has a bit of a different reaction.
"Nah, that don't make me feel bad. It makes me feel bad that women are subjected to that, though ... As dudes, I don't worry about that. That's not a thought I have. And if a girl sends me a boob pic, I'm excited. Like, 'Yo, boobs!' You know what I'm saying?"
The singer then went on to open up about the time he had to reckon with his open relationship with Bunnie Xo. He mentions his best friend, rapper Struggle Jennings, as someone he is consistently honest with. However, once he realized he was not as honest with his wife as he was with his best friend, he needed to change his line of approach.
"I call my wife my best friend. My other best friend is a guy named Struggle Jennings, we've been friends twenty-something years. I had a moment one time where I was talking to my wife and I was afraid to say something to her that I wouldn't say to Struggle. I thought to myself, 'Is that really my best friend?' I challenged that. If me and Struggle see a pretty girl, we'd acknowledge it as two men. 'That girl's beautiful.' I do the same thing with my wife now. 'Hey, check this out. You see that girl? She's hot, right? Got pretty eyes, huh?"
Concludes that living without jealous and truly as best friends has allowed their relationship to flourish, nearly eight years into their marriage.
"We don't live in that space. To me it's like, we're truly best friends. Like she's going to find other men attractive, as she should. I'm going to find women attractive. I think it's our honesty and our vulnerability that makes it cool for us."
The "Need a Favor" did not clarify any boundaries of their open relationship, but shared that they both frequently check out other men and women and do not feel the need to fight.
"We talk about it, roll straight off of it. I don't have to get worried caught looking at a chick's butt. I never have to get worried about her looking at some f-ing rock and roll dude thinking he's hot. It's like, 'Cool, he's hot.' 'She's hot.' It is what it is. People are hot. That's my best friend, I'm gonna talk to you just the way I would Struggle."
In a previous episode of her podcast, Dumb Blonde, Bunnie Xo also revealed that their arrangement also allows them to sleep with whoever they want.
"We allow each other to be who we want to be," Bunnie said on an episode of their podcast in 2021. "If I want to sleep with another guy, I can go sleep with another guy. Like, that's not a problem."
