Fans will get more insight into JoJo's personal life as the singer announces the release of her first-ever memoir, Under the Influence, which will be released later this year.
Taking to her official social media profiles, the musician shared the official book cover of her memoir as well as a teaser of what fans should expect about the book.
"This book is for anyone who has ever felt disillusioned, disconnected, but underneath it, all DETERMINED to find themselves and a new way of being," she wrote.
JoJo, whose real name is Joanna Levesque, added that when she realized that the 20th anniversary of her debut album would come up in 2024, she started taking down the framework for what would become her memoir.
Teasing fans about its contents, the musician wrote, "This book is about my life so far. This is a story of addiction, generational trauma, fame ona developing brain, lies, love, stamina, spirituality, resilience, and reinvention."
JoJo noted that her definition of success has undergone many revisions since she entered the industry at the age of six, but today, success for her is defined as happiness and connection.
She added that she wrote every word in the book, and she's nervous about her memoir because it's "the most challenging yet meaningful project" she has ever taken on.
Over the Influence will be published on September 17, 2024, but it is now available for pre-order.
According to People magazine, JoJo started in the entertainment industry at age six. She began appearing on programs like Destination Stardom and Kids Say the Darndest Things before eventually signing a record deal with Blackground Records when she was 12.
Unfortunately, the next few years of her life were tragic. She sued her record labels for delaying the release of her second album and went on to file more lawsuits against the company for damaging her career. The legal battle ended in 2014 after a settlement, and she was later released from the contract.
Since then, JoJo has continued releasing albums like Good to Know, Mad Love, and many more. In addition, she starred in Broadway's Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Her last album, December Baby, was released in 2020.
As of this writing, the singer has yet to announce a new album.
