The X Factor star Amelia Lily has been hospitalized due to a severe illness, causing the cancelation of her scheduled festival performance.
Lily, who participated in the show in 2011, delivered the heartbreaking news via Instagram Stories as she disclosed that she was severely unwell before her upcoming performance at the Sunderland Food and Drink Festival. She has since been pulled out from the event's lineup.
"I am so sorry that I won't be able to perform tomorrow evening. I love performing and am absolutely gutted I can't be there tomorrow but I know I'm in the best place," she said in her Sunday, June 9, update, sharing she was hospitalized due to an underlying infection. "I was discharged last night and am back home, have to go back in the morning for some blood but I am on the mend. It resulted in being a kidney infection which came from a UTI that was left untreated."
She added, "I felt pain in my lower back at the start of the week and tried for three days to get into my drs, but they were not taking any more appointments or econsults, which resulted into my vomiting and having the migraine and a fever, but with me being diabetic things can get a little more complicated as you can imagine."
The "You Bring Me Joy" singer, 29, has since been battling with diabetes before her hospitalization. She has been open about the disease over the years, sharing how exhausting it is for her to face the illness.
The Georgie Shore alum ended her post by thanking the hospital staff at James Cook Hospital who looked after her throughout her treatment.
Lily launched her career as a contestant on The X Factor in 2011. She won third place at the time.
Before her stint on Geordie Shore in 2020, she participated in the 2017 iteration of Celebrity Big Brother.
