Jelly Roll has been open about his dark past and uses his story to inspire others to live a better life. More recently, the musician jokingly labeled himself the "worst criminal ever" after being busted several times and failing to run from the authorities.

The country singer appeared on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM for an interview, where the host told him that he must have been "the worst drug dealer" after being busted 47 times.

"So bad... I was the worst criminal ever," he jokingly said.

He went on to recall a story of how he got caught when he was only 15 years old, saying he was on a Xanax bar when police got ahold of him.

"You know how Xanax make you a little slow anyways? And in my mind, when the police pulled us over, I was like, 'I'm just gonna run.' So I opened the door, and in my mind, I jumped out and sprinted across a field and almost made it," he said.

He then noted that he was so fat and "Xanaxed out" and only got two steps.

The musician continued his story while laughing, adding that the policeman had just stood and watched him fall. He later laid on top of him, but the police felt bad and didn't charge him for attempting to run.

Jelly Roll has a lot of stories from his tragic past, as there was a point in his life wherein he was in and out of the juvenile detention center since the age of 14.

Before his homecoming concert at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN, he visited the center where he spent 18 months to talk to teenagers who were in the same position as him back when he was younger.

He revealed that spending time there inspired him to pursue rapping.

"I loved all music as a listener, but I didn't think I could sing, but there was something about rhythmic rapping and poetry that I understood," he said.

Fortunately, Jelly Roll was able to turn his life upside down as he managed to get out of the dark path and pursue music. He also became an inspiration to those who are struggling in life.
