After spending years on the judges' panel, Katy Perry has finally bid goodbye to American Idol, and as of this writing, her spot is still vacant. More recently, Meghan Trainor said she wanted to replace the pop star because it's her dream job.
The "Mother" hitmaker recently appeared in an interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she revealed that she wanted to become Perry's replacement on the reality singing competition series after she announced her departure earlier this year.
Trainor said she's always wanted to be a judge on the show, and she has already written to three people who could potentially help her.
"I've done every interview in the world and said that that is my dream job and I have emailed three awesome people who work in that world... don't really have the full say but I begged," she said.
The "Made You Look" songstress has an impressive resumé for being a judge as she previously appeared on shows like The Four: Battle for Stardom, The Voice UK, and Australian Idol.
In addition, she appeared on American Idol as a guest mentor, where Ryan Seacrest applauded her talent and attitude.

The host spoke to Entertainment Tonight and said, "Meghan is a super talent too, and she's got a great sense of humor. She's fun and she's spontaneous."
One of the judges, Luke Bryan, had a similar experience, saying, "I think Meghan's always been real fun. You know, that's kinda been her brand, to have fun. [She's] real witty, so certainly."
As of this writing, there is still no straightforward replacement for Perry on the show, and Trainor revealed that she has yet to receive any updates regarding the e-mails that she sent.
"That is my dream job. I want to drive to work at American Idol and then drive home," she added.
In other updates about the singer, Trainor released her late album Timeless earlier this month. She will also embark on a tour later this year across North America. This is a big comeback for the singer, as it took her seven years before she performed at a series of concerts again.
More details about her concerts are available on her official website.
