Ariana Grande went viral on social media after a clip from her recent interview showed her changing her voice mid-sentence. After the video circulated online, many people criticized the pop star, leading her to defend herself and explain what happened.

The musician recently appeared on Penn Badgley's podcast Podcrushed. A clip from the episode was shared on social media, and fans pointed out that Grande changed the pitch of her voice.

The "Honeymoon Avenue" songstress started off with a lower tone, which became higher as she spoke about recording new music.

"The Voice Change??" the TikTok user wrote in the video that went viral on the platform and received more than 700,000 likes.

Grande then took to the comment section to explain her side, saying that she had been doing it for two years for her vocal health.

"i intentionally change my vocal placement (high / low) often depending on how much singing i'm doing... i've always done this BYE," she added.

This wasn't the first time the musician received criticism over her vocal change. She also faced similar backlash when she attended this year's Oscars with her Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo.

Many fans then noted that the musician sounded higher than her natural voice.

In other updates about the singer, Grande is set to release the remix version of her song "The Boy Is Mine" with Brandy and Monica, who released a song of the same title in 1998.

Taking to her official Instagram account to announce the collaboration, the singer said she couldn't believe it was happening and she thanked the two R&B legends for joining her on the song.

"My deepest and sincerest thank you to Brandy and Monica, not only for joining me for this moment, but for your generosity, your kindness, and for the countless ways in which you have inspired me," she wrote.

She further noted that the collaboration is meant to celebrate Brandy and Monica's impact on many people, including vocalists, vocal producers, musicians, and artists.

"i loooooove you both so so much. thank you !!!!!!!" she added.

The two musicians previously teamed up with Grande by appearing on the official music video of the original track.

The remix version of "The Boy is Mine" will be released on June 21, 2024.
