Dario G's Paul Spencer had one last wish before his death at 53.

Spencer's official Instagram page confirmed his passing on Monday, June 17, post a year after the late musician announced he had been diagnosed with stage four rectal cancer.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Paul Spencer earlier today," his family wrote in a statement. "He was positive until the end but this was one battle he could not fight anymore. He leaves behind a wonderful musical legacy and many happy memories for many people. He will be sadly missed by everyone who loved him. Shine bright our big star - K, A & H xxx."

Prior to his passing, he appeared in an interview with The Mirror where he opened up about living his life as a stage four cancer patient.

According to the Dario G member, he had always maintained positivity though it reportedly felt like it "was ebbing away slowly."

With his health battle, he reportedly found a meaningful hobby and got one wish after his diagnosis.

The cancer-stricken musician told the news outlet he would like to collect watches every year "for the rest of his life."

"I thought, 'Well, no, I might buy a watch because it's there. And it's, you know, it's something you can look at. It's something that's a reminder of the future. I'll try and make it a positive thing like, 'That was when I reached that milestone.' When I do reach that milestone, one of the things I've had is well, I'll buy a watch and then I'll buy a new watch every year for the rest of my life," Spencer continued.

At the time, he reminded everyone that "aging is a privilege" that many people take for granted.

Throughout his final months, Spencer took his fans and loved ones with him in his battle by documenting his treatment online.

After receiving his rectal cancer diagnosis, he revealed in a January video that his cancer spread to his liver and lungs.

Spencer and his group were known for their debut single, "Sunchyme." The 1997 track was beaten by Elton John's tribute to Princess Diana, "Candle In The Wind," following the royal princess' tragic death.
