Nicki Minaj is reportedly ordered to appear in court after allegedly owing her concert promoter a hefty $1 million.

In Touch Weekly obtained legal documents granting the application brought forward by promoter BS Associates Company LTD, demanding the female rapper show up for a financial examination.

Minaj was ordered to appear in court on Aug. 15, 2024, so she could "furnish information to aid enforcement of a money judgment against" her.

Per the documents, Minaj was ordered to show up in court bringing information about her assets.

The legal drama was rooted in the 2018 performance debacle in Shanghai, China, where Minaj refused to perform onstage at the DWP China Music Festival after discovering it was a "scam." Minaj and her team only discovered that the entire festival was not connected to the original Indonesian festival of the same name on the day they arrived in the country.

BS Associates, Minaj's partner at the time, agreed to pay $1 million to Pink Personality, Minaj's company, for her performance. According to the lawsuit, the firm deposited the funds into an escrow account by her talent agents in CAA.

The firm claimed that Minaj asked for $250,000 to be released from the escrow account a couple of weeks before the 2018 performance, and they agreed. However, Minaj "failed to show up." The firm claimed Minaj's agents discussed on a rescheduled date if "additional funds" were released, so they released another $250,000.

However, despite further attempts to secure another date, Minaj never provided a new date for the show.

In arbitration, Radar Online reported that BS Associates was awarded the full $1 million with interest, bringing the sum to $1.4 million. In 2023, the firm filed a petition in a Los Angeles court to start the collection process from Pink Personality.

Pink Personality didn't respond to the petition, and documents showed that CAA had paid back the $500,000 that the firm initially paid to Minaj. BS Associates then demanded the court revise the arbitration to reflect the payment, which drove the sum from $1.4 million to $1.063 million today.

BS Associates have implored the court to question Minaj's representatives from William Morris Endeavor and her finance team.

Minaj is currently on break on her historic Pink Friday 2 World Tour. She's expected to return to touring on June 27, 2024, at the Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Portugal.
