Charli XCX and Lorde have buried the hatchet after years of comparison, and it seems like another artist is putting the past between her and the English singer as she praised the pair's recent collaboration.
Taking to her official X account, Marina applauded Charli and Lorde for their latest song, "Girl, so confusing," which she described as "SO BEAUTIFUL."
"Just cried listening to it. It's so courageous and human to make work about this topic and it's so healing to listen to it," she wrote.
Charli took to the reply section and replied, "aww marina!! tumblr girls rise!"
The issue between the two singers began in 2016 when Charli shared a series of photos many people believed were similar to Marina's cover art for the song "Immortal."
The images, shot by Charlotte Rutherford, also have the same tropical design that embodies the singer's album FROOT.
The musician, whose real name is Marina Diamandis, seemingly called out Charli on social media as she wrote, "Imagery is artistic property. Please respect your fellow artists."
Marina also reportedly commented on the photographer's Instagram post, writing, "That FROOT looks familiar!" referring to the aesthetic of her album art.
Charli responded to the tweet, writing, "@MarinasDiamonds i'm guessing this is aimed at me. if so, response posted here. sending positive vibe."
In a lengthy explanation, the English pop star defended her photos, saying people sometimes do photoshoots in different settings, like in front of plants, in black and white, or even with similar makeup.
"Sometimes you shoot with the same photographer a fellow artist has shot with. That's just how things happen in the industry I work in," she added.
In the "Girl, so confusing" remix with Lorde, the two artists discussed their comparisons as the New Zealand artist sang in the pre-chorus, "People say we're alike / They say we've got the same hair / It's you and me on the coin / The industry loves to spend / And when we put this to bed / The internet will go crazy /I'm glad I know how you feel / 'Cause I ride for you, Charli."
The remix version is now available for streaming on major music platforms. The recent song is a part of Charli XCX's current era of music, Brat.
