The Palm Tree Music Festival returned for its fourth edition this year and was held at the Shinnecock Nation in Southampton. It featured major performers like Swedish House Mafia, Kygo, and many more, but not all fans had a great experience as many of them aired out their concerns on social media following the event, and some even described it as a disaster; what happened?
Prior to the event, Page Six reported that the annual event already faced a major problem: They failed to secure a permit to hold the festival at their usual location, the Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton.
Fox 5 NY reported that the Federal Aviation Administration didn't renew their permit, resulting in them looking for another venue just weeks before the event.
They faced more hurdles even after the event, as there were numerous reports of bad experiences.
Some fans complained about hours-long waits for shuttles, alcohol and water shortages, and many more.
"The rest of this year's event was a disaster!" one fan wrote on their Instagram post, adding, " Running out of alcohol AND water combined with the unsafe chaos trying to exit the venue." The fan has called on the event to share an official statement and address the problems festivalgoers faced.
"Why don't you release a statement about the s*** show it was leaving the place and the fact that it wasn't safe to leave the property on your own," one commented.
One fan even called for the event's cancellation, writing, "The most unorganized chaos I have ever been to. The Hamptons and Palm Tree Festival should be ASHAMED at the organization this year. This event should be canceled going forward for the safety of everyone."
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries at the festival. A source also told the outlet that the event didn't run out of water, as there were water stations throughout the venue.
As of this writing, organizers for the Palm Tree Music Festival have yet to address the concerns circulating on social media, but Palm Tree Crew co-founder Myles Shear admitted that this year wasn't the best, as he said, "Year four was our best yet, and we can't wait to see what the future holds."
Aside from Swedish House Mafia and Kygo, Purple Disco Machine and Sofi Tukker also performed at the event.
