Perrie Edwards kicked off her solo music career following the release of "Forget About Us" in April, and many fans are waiting for her to release her debut album as a solo artist outside of her group Little Mix. More recently, the musician gave fans an insight into her upcoming project, seemingly hinting that she wrote a song about her ex-groupmate, Jesy Nelson.

In a recent interview on the Zach Sang Show, she revealed that one song from her new album makes her emotional, and it's about a friendship that she doesn't have anymore.

"There's a friendship that I no longer have. I wrote a song about that. That song - I can't even listen to it without crying," she said.

Edwards, currently engaged to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, added that the track will revolve around the person and how they didn't see eye-to-eye."

"It's a really sad song. We don't talk any more... They were a big part of my life so it's sad how it all ended up," she added.

The interviewer asked the musician if she and the unnamed person could be reunited in the future, and the singer said that she was open to it.

Jesy Nelson left Little Mix in 2020, and the remaining members, Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, confirmed the sad news on social media, saying their bandmate left due to mental health struggles.

"This is an incredibly sad time for all of us but we are fully supportive of Jesy. We love her very much and agree that it is so important that she does what is right for her mental health and well-being," they added.

Little Mix, formed in 2011 during their time on The X-Factor UK, went on to become a trio and lasted for a few years before they eventually went on hiatus to focus on their personal lives and solo careers; on the other hand, Nelson has also launched as a solo artist.

Following her departure, Nelson told Graham Norton on his talk show that she hadn't been talking to her bandmates anymore. She clarified that although it's sad, there is no bad blood on her side, and she still loves her former bandmates.

In other updates about Perrie Edwards, the singer just released her new song "Tears" earlier this week and is now available for streaming on major music platforms.
