It's official! Perrie Edwards just entered a new era of music, and it's extra special because this is the first time the singer has released a song outside of her girl group, Little Mix; listen to the track below.
The singer, who now only goes by her first name, Perrie, dropped her new single titled "Forget About Us," the lead single of her upcoming album.
As of this writing, the former X-Factor UK contestant has yet to share more information about her debut album, but Official Charts reported that she hosted several private listening parties for her supporters, where she played snippets of six new songs and explained the background of each one.
A release date for the debut album, even the title, has yet to be announced.
What Would Perrie Edwards' New Album Sound Like?
In an interview with NME, the singer said she wanted to make sure that each track from a different genre had something similar or "a sister" on her album, but at the same time, it wouldn't sound mismatched.
"It makes sense when you listen to it as a body of work," she said, adding that fans should expect tracks that sound like "Motowny" while others give "Mariah Carey Vibes."

Billboard reported that Ed Sheeran is a co-writer on "Forget About Us," and it's a pop ballad with hints of country sounds.
Other collaborators on the album include RAYE and Jin Jin.
Perrie Edwards Initially Hesitant About Writing Her Solo Music
In the interview, Edwards revealed that she was hesitant to write her own music at first because she was "so insecure" and "so shy."
She added that one of the main factors was her working on her own. She was used to working with Little Mix, who always had her back, and she was considered "the baby" of the group.
Then, a sudden change happened. She felt overwhelmed when she realized that many people were waiting for her to discuss her feelings.
At first, she told her record label that she just wanted to sing songs and approve them, not write the tracks, but the company insisted on trying out some sessions with people with whom she had collaborated in the past, like Jin Jin.
After a few sessions, Edwards said she felt confident about her writing and creating concept ideas.
