Britney Spears and her two sons are open to fixing their fractured relationship. According to the source, a phone call last Mother's Day initiated the reconciliation.

"Obviously a reconciliation/reunification is somewhat complex and can be a process that takes some time," Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told Page Six. "And the phone call was a good sign and a step in the right direction, but it's a process that takes more than just a phone call to accomplish."

Additionally, Kaplan denied reports that Britney had flown to Hawaii to meet her boys physically, whom he shares with Federline.

"While Kevin supports the boys having a relationship with their mother and is glad that the boys did finally have a phone conversation with her around Mother's Day, the reports that she flew to Hawaii and met with them are inaccurate," Kaplan confirmed.

Britney and Federline share 18-year-old Sean Preston and 17-year-old Jayden James, who now resides in Hawaii with their father.

The "Toxic" singer revealed in an Instagram post earlier this month that he had been texting with her two boys, sharing that she had sent them photos of her Mexico trip with her brother, Bryan Spears.

"Looking pretty dapper !!! I sent it to my kids and I think they got jealous because they said 'that's a filter ... that's not real'!!!" Britney captioned her Instagram post.

OK Magazine reported that the boys do not have a good relationship with Britney. They even refused to say goodbye to their mother when they moved to Hawaii in 2023.

"It was their decision to make this a quiet, seamless move and avoid the drama that would have happened face-to-face," one source told the outlet at the time, noting that Britney was "heartbroken" by the decision. "It's impossible for her to process that things between them have gotten this bad."

The outlet also reported that Federline had claimed that Britney and her sons' relationship has deteriorated in the past years because of her erratic behavior on social media, including her decision to post racy photos of her online.

"I try to explain to [their sons], 'Look, maybe that's just another way she tries to express herself,'" Federline said about Britney. "But that doesn't take away from the fact of what it does to them. It's tough. I can't imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school."
