Fans were shocked upon finding out Shifty Shellshock's death as he tragically passed away at the age of 49. More recently, his final social media activity gave his supporters an insight into his personal life, as there were posts that showed how grateful he was before his passing.
According to People magazine, the Crazy Town singer was found dead at his home in Los Angeles, CA, earlier this week. As of this writing, his cause of death has yet to be determined by a medical examiner.
Months before he passed away, he took to his official Instagram account to share a post about him being a lover and being grateful for being alive as a sober person.
"I'm a lover than a fighter ...but the one I need to love more Instead of fight with is myself .. mr shifty true Love # Sober alive and grateful," he wrote in the caption.
The following day, Shellshock also shared a quote that reads, "the black sheep, the odd ducks, the rejects, the eccentrics, the loners, the lost and forgotten. More often than not, these people have the most beautiful souls."
Throughout the years, the musician has been candid about his struggles with addiction and even participated in reality shows like Celebrity Rehab and Sober House.
He told ABC News that he decided to join the show because he struggled with cocaine and alcohol addiction for 15 years, and the traditional rehab didn't help his case.
"I'm really happy in sobriety right now. I'm doing everything I can in my power to make it stick. It's more about daily maintenance. I feel better than I ever have," he said. Unfortunately, Shellshock relapsed several times following his appearance on the show.
In a shocking incident in 2012, the musician went into a coma at a Los Angeles hospital, and he became conscious days later.
Shifty Shellshock was one of the founding members of Crazy Town, which rose to fame in 1999 after the release of its first album, The Gift of Game.
Other group members include Rust Epique, James Bradley Jr., Doug Miller, Antonio Lorenzo Valli, and Adam Goldstein. They released their sophomore album, Darkhorse, in 2002, but they disbanded after the project didn't become successful.
