Gwen Stefani recently celebrated her third wedding anniversary with Blake Shelton by sharing a heartwarming post on social media, but fans pointed out that her caption may also be a shade towards her ex, Gavin Rossdale.
Taking to her official Instagram account, the singer shared several photos of them on the day of their wedding in 2021. In the caption, she wrote: "July 3, 2021... it has always been you."
Online users immediately took to the comment section to share their insights about her caption, saying she might have thrown a slight shade at her ex-husband.
One wrote, "It shows so much insecurity, her need to somehow put her ex husband down in little, petty ways. It doesn't give me a (truly) happy vibe."
"All she is saying is Blake is her true love. She's never felt how wonderful it could be until she was with him. Yes, she was married before and had children, but still... something was missing!!!" another wrote.
Stefani and Rossdale met in 1995 when she was an opening act for the singer's band, Bush. They went on to date for six years.
By 2002, the musician asked permission from her father, and they eventually became engaged. Nine months later, the couple tied the knot in London in front of 150 guests. They later had two other ceremonies, one in Los Angeles for Stefani's family and another for their friends.
Their first marital problem began in 2004 when it was revealed that Rossdale had a child before he was married, and a paternity test confirmed she was the father of Daisy Lowe.
The couple didn't break up, as they went on to have children of their own: Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.
By 2015, they announced that they were separating. In a joint statement, they wrote: "While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raisin our three sons in a happy and healthy environment,"
According to Best Life, Rossdale had an affair with one of their children's nannies for many years. Another nanny reportedly found photos and text messages of the other woman on their kids' iPads and told Stefani everything.
"She couldn't get past it and was devastated this was going on right under her nose. She asked Gavin to leave and knew the marriage was over," a source said.
