Kanye West has reportedly cut off contact with his lawyer, Brian Brumfield, without even paying him.
In Touch Weekly reported that Brumfield had asked to be removed as West's representative in the lawsuit against Justin Poplawski, who claimed to have been assaulted by West after asking for an autograph.
"Defendant, Kanye West, terminated the relationship on 6/21/2024. Defendant also will not speak to counsel and Defendant refuses to pay counsel as well," Brumfield said in his filing. A hearing for the motion has been set for later this July 2024.
Poplawski sued West in January 2024 after being assaulted by the rapper at the SoHo Warehouse in Los Angeles in 2022, The Daily Mail reported. He claimed that West lost it when he asked him for an autograph.
"I'm going to make a f-king example out of you," West allegedly told Poplawski. Afterward, he was hit in the face and was asked if he wanted to "get attacked for real?" The man asked the rapper to apologize, but he was refused.
"Defendant is informed and believes, and based on such information and belief, alleges that Defendant was justified in doing any and/or all of the acts alleged in the Complaint," Poplawski's lawsuit read. "All of the purported causes of action in the Complaint are barred to the extent [West] acted in defense of himself and/or others."

West's move to cut off Brumfield came after he and his wife, Bianca Censori, were both slapped with fresh new complaints from their alleged behavior and treatment of their employees under their YZY Porn and YZYVSN ventures.
According to the suit, Censori had allegedly sent an explicit sexual video to one of the employees. Also, the alleged link was said to be accessible to minors while developing the application.
"Upon information and belief, on or around April 27, 2024, Defendant Ye's wife Bianca Censori sent a YZYVSN worker a file sharing link of hardcore pornography for the Yeezy Porn App," the document reads, adding that employees used Discord to share "pictures of pornography." "No guardrails were put in place to prevent the underaged YZYVSN workers from working on Yeezy Porn, or to prevent them from being exposed to and being forced to view pornography to perform their work," the suit continued.
