Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's divorce is not easy, although they have only been married for nearly two years.

After their second wedding anniversary, Lopez and Affleck have started dealing with marital woes that tested their marriage. While the divorce buzz intensified after the Justice League actor moved out of their marital home, a source revealed the split process would not be easy.

"They've sunk a fortune into building up this joint brand," a source told In Touch. "So much time and money has been spent preparing all these different projects that they were both so gung-ho on just a few months ago, and now it's pretty much all down the drain because everything was based on their Bennifer brand."

Bennifer, the moniker their fans created after they began dating for the first time in 2002, resurfaced when they reconnected and rekindled their romance in April 2021.

They finally wed after canceling their scheduled union in 2003 due to intense media attention. However, their past breakup might happen again.

Among the things they need to untangle before officially divorcing is Unstoppable. Lopez stars in the flick, which Affleck coproduces. According to reports, the project is currently in post-production.

But with their status, fans have been worried about how they will promote it.

Another insider told In Touch that the film "is not the only creative project" they planned to make together.

"They were privately funding certain projects they really believed in and had all kinds of things lined up, and now they're having to pull out, which is letting a lot of people down and leaving a ton of money on the table," said the source, adding, "So many investments are now having to be dissolved, and that's a big part of why this is taking so long, despite the fact that it's very much over."

Lopez and Affleck have not commented on the divorce buzz. Their fans, on the other hand, have long speculated that the singer's tendency to make their relationship public damaged their marriage.

In fact, the Gone Girl actor revealed in the documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told how he would like their relationship not to be on social media. However, he reportedly realized it was unfair to ask from Lopez.
