Zach Bryan expressed gratitude to music icon Bruce Springsteen for the opportunity to collaborate on the latter's upcoming album, The Great American Bar Scene. Bryan and Springsteen worked together on the song "Sandpaper."
On X, formerly Twitter, Bryan posted a photo of his musical idol sitting on a stool with his guitar.
"thank you for the day @springsteen thank you for your kind words thank you for letting me take this picture thank you for making my whole life a dream of a younger me a reason to believe," Bryan wrote on the caption.
Bryan had performed "Sandpaper" in most of his shows for the Quittin' Time tour. On March 27, 2024, Springsteen had everyone surprised when he appeared as a guest and performed the track on the concert's encore set. The duo then performed "Revival" with Maggie Rogers to close the same show in Brooklyn.
Sources close to Bryan told Rolling Stone that when Springsteen heard that "Sandpaper" would be performed in his concert back then, the Boss had decided to fly back to New York while on tour just to perform the song with Bryan.
People had nothing but good reactions and praises after hearing Springsteen and Bryan's work on "Sandpaper."
"Springsteen fan for 50 years. 1st time I heard Zach Bryan I thought to myself this guy is singing to the same working class people Bruce sang to years ago........very nice," one commented on YouTube.
"This is a heavenly gift, Bruce Springsteen saved my life and Zach made me realize there is beauty in living, couldn't thank you guys enough for this," another raved.
"Bruce has always had a strong country side to him. Lest we forget, the backbeat to I'm On Fire was influenced by Johnny Cash... So it's cool to see the generational passing of the torch. Zach, ya just made another fan," one pointed out.
"Grew up listening to Springsteen in my dads car, my brothers car led me to Zach Bryan, and now there together. Makes me feel like I'm on a road trip to nc with them again," a fourth person pointed out.
Bryan's The Great American Bar Scene also includes the country singer's collaboration with John Moreland, Noeline Hofmann, and John Mayer.
